This is a letter home to the parents of the fourth graders I worked with during my internship.

Context
I wrote this letter during the beginning of my internship with the fourth grade class at Bethel School during the Block experience of spring 2001. It was sent home with each student in order to obtain parents’ and/or guardians’ permission to record interviews conducted with those students.

Impact
I will keep this letter on file and use it in the future as a template for creating new letters gaining permission for activities I wish to engage in, such as video production. In this way, I will stay within the limits of the law in terms of capturing a student’s image, and I will also ensure that my parents are comfortable with the projects my students will be working on.

Alignment
This letter demonstrates my knowledge of social, legal, and ethical applications and uses of technology and my willingness to involve parents in the decision-making processes that affect my classroom (Tech. Competency 14.3).
