Technology Portfolio

Rationale:  Technology Portfolio

Context:

It is true that I have learned as much about technology during this last semester than I have learned in the first three years of college. It is amazing how much there is to learn about technology! I constructed this Technology Portfolio in my Media/ Technology class during my Spring 2002; Block 436. I am so thrilled that I know how to create something called a "Telefolio" that can be posted on the World Wide Web and can be viewed by virtually everyone in the world. It certainly is amazing to ponder. When applying for a job, it will make it easier for the school to see my progress when making their decision if I am qualified to be on their team of teachers. In addition, this Technology Portfolio will be so much easier to see online rather than carry around an actual portfolio. There is less of a chance to lose it, also it is much more fascinating this way.
Impact:
This Online Technology Portfolio is great to demonstrate my proclivity with technology and my awareness of technology in the classroom.  When I instruct, I will not be restrict my skills concerning technology. I will offer my students and colleagues my wisdom regarding technology, expanding their technology horizons. Moreover, the Technology Portfolio can be acquired by other teachers giving them new ideas for their classroom . Just think, there might be a struggling teacher who stumbles upon my Technology Portfolio and gets back on his or her feet with the information found inside.
Alignment:
While creating this Technology Portfolio, its entirety reflects the technology skills that I have learned during my career at Appalachian State University. The Artifacts I have listed demonstrate that I am capable of technology skills beyond the rudimentary abilities of word processing and power point. Although I have had experience with the internet, I have also learned how to dig deeper for the knowledge that I am searching for. I learned how to scan images, use I-movie software, use digital cameras, create several of my own web pages for my future teaching career, and much more.  (Tech Standard I. A.)  Indeed, it is true that technology progresses with each passing day, that means that it is important that as a teacher I am updated with what is going on around me. I believe that it is important that you are at the same level or above that of your students. Students look up to their teachers as role models and it is crucial that the teacher is one who has mastered emerging technologies. The telefolio that I have created is just a small part of the technology that I will be exposed to in the future. We as humans are an innovative species you know. (Tech Standard I. B)
