Software Evaluation

Rationale: Software Evaluation

Context:

Through the course of my Block 436 Curriculum and Instruction Class there was always a question of what kinds of technological resources I could use when I am ultimately teaching in my schoolroom. I examined software individually then recorded my observations revealing the effectiveness of the software for my elementary school children.
Impact:
The Software Evaluation provided me guidance and standards for assessing software. This skill can be practiced at any point or with any subject while I am teaching. My written evaluation that I submitted to my professor can serve as a basis on which I can assist other teachers when purchasing or using software in the classroom
Alignment:

I assessed the software Fizz and Martina's Math Adventure Software for my Software Evaluation. This assessment proved to be important because teachers do have to research different teaching and learning materials before they are put to use. Evaluations have a great deal of significance when planning for the academic years. Making sure that the curriculum and standards are met are important during this time. (Technology Standard II. B)  It is a teacher's job to take time out and evaluate the materials that will be used in the classroom to ensure that the software is appropriate for the students and serves a legitimate purpose. In actuality, it may take time to find reliable software; however it will pay off when students learn from it and are eager to learn with the help of an interactive resource. (Technology Standard II. C) In schools, the textbooks and the software both are great tools to use when teaching. Having a professional reflection regarding technological resources shows that you are an up to date and devoted teacher. The best technology will encourage students to learn interactively and you can learn from the students' reactions and assessments if they are learning from these softwares. (Technology Standard V. B)
