This artifact gives a detailed description of the
software program, The Graph Club. This evaluation includes information
about the publisher, authors of the software, a description of the product
and its functions and how this program could be used in the classroom.

Context I evaluated The Graph Club during my senior block in fall of 2002. I downloaded the program onto my computer and became familiar with its functions and controls. I played the game and got a feel for what it had to offer and what it could do for both instructional purposes and free time. I compiled all the information into a word document using Microsoft Word.
Impact This software evaluation was a valuable activity for me as a teacher. I plan to incorporate software into my classroom to enhance learning. I now know what aspects of a program should be considered when evaluating software for classroom use and can apply this knowledge to evaluate other software. I also was introduced to a piece of software that I can use with my students to enhance their learning with graphs.
Alignment This software evaluation aligns with technology competencies
II B, II C, and V B because I identified and located a technology resource
for use in the classroom and evaluated it for appropriate classroom use.
I considered how I could use this software in my classroom and decided
if it would assist me in meeting my curriculum goals. I also had to decide
if this software would be developmentally appropriate for students. I will
be able to evaluate and compile a list of software that is appropriate
for use in my classroom to enhance student learning. I also searched the
internet for reviews of this and other software. I will be able to utilize
the internet to help me find software that I believe will be worthy of
my personal evaluation for classroom use. |
