Student Release Form for Media Materials
This is a release form for students to be video taped, photographed, audio recorded, and for their work to be copied.

Context
This is the release form that I sent home with the students in my internship placement during the fall of 2002. I prepared many projects during this placement and needed parental permission to record images of the students and their schoolwork. The release was provided for me in English and I then translated it into Spanish for distribution to the Spanish-speaking parents of the students.

Impact
As a teacher, I must be aware of the legal issues when dealing with filming or recording students or their work in any form. I am now more aware of these issues within my classroom. As a teacher, I must also model legal practices for my students. At the beginning of each school year, I will send similar release forms home for each student and abide by the parents' wishes on the topic.

Alignment
The use of this student release form aligns with technology competency VI A. By using this form and following the parents' wishes, I am modeling and teaching legal and ethical practices related to technology use.
