My portrait student is a fifth grade student at Beech Mountain Elementary School. She is a challenged student academically and functions below grade level. My Portrait of a Learner project required items like assessments, word study lessons, a video project, a software evaluation lesson, and individual evaluations. Throughout this project I have collected information in many forms. I completed an overview of my portrait student on a video that contains her in a classroom setting, in peer environments, and examples of her class work that shows her progress and growth as a learner (12.2). This video will communicate her learning processes and improvements to her teachers, her parents, and to other evaluators (12.3). I will use the video to show her academic levels through assessments I have performed. The video will also show her growth as a student through her involvement, inquiry, and collaboration throughout the school year (12.5). In order to film my portrait student and other students in the classroom, I had to have every child's guardian to sign a permission slip (14.1). This provides protection for the students and ensures compliance with security procedures.
