Computer Software Evaluation

This lesson plan was created for a fifth grade student for an individual assessment of her math skills.  The software the lesson is focused around is "Disney's Math Quest", which is primarily at a K-3 level.  The student's math skills are not at grade level, and therefore adaptive lesson was created using a lower skills level program (13.2).  I did several math assessments with this student and also discussed the software with the student's teacher before selecting the appropriate program (10.6).  Through the student's assessments I learned that this student had an immense need for foundation math skills and that the software would facilitate her learning and understanding in these skills (11.4).  This computer software is an entire program focused around the math curriculum, and this program specifically increases the basic foundations of math (11.3).  I also received input from the student's teacher on which software to use.  The student's teacher explained that the student learned best from types of software that she had to apply her thinking and problem solving skills, rather than repetition and application of facts.  Her learning is increased and her performance is enhanced through this software program (13.1).
