Computer Skills Assessment

A major part of the North Carolina Curriculum is technology.  This being the case, teachers must have adequate methods for assessing this area in place.  One of the most obvious uses of technology in the classroom is computers.  During my Block, I found a tool to utilize in assessing my students' computer skills.  I have included a sample from the form to offer an introduction to this assessment tool.  The Basic Technology Competencies for Educators self assessment tool allows teachers to gain understanding of expected proficiency for themselves as well as their students.  Using this assessment, I was able to determine if my students' computer skills aligned with the state curriculum for their grade level (10.5).
