Inquiry Project

Context
The Inquiry project was created in a curriculum and instruction course at Appalachian State University.  Under the instruction of Pam Schram, we learned how to integrate technology and create a project to present to the class that gave them some knowledge about children with behavioral problems.

Impact
I plan to use this in my classroom by giving my children a topic that interests them and allowing them to research it and decide how they will present what they have learned.  I think that it is important for them to be interested in the topic so they will enjoy learning about it and really get something out of the project.

Alignment

This project was designed to teach our classmates more about behavioral problems that some children have and teachers have to face.  We researched a variety of disorders and presented them to the class.  We gave each member of our class a handout on the disorder along with tips to help them in their classroom.  This artifact helps teach us legal an ethical practice because we had to find permission to interview a parent and teacher with one of these disorders.  We had to make sure that the parent, student, and teacher did not mind our interview.  We also had to tell them where the information was going (Tech VI A).  This project showed us how to use technology to empower kids with diverse backgrounds (Tech VI B).  We used  knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication to show the audience the information that they have researched and found (INTASC 6).
