Software Evaluation

Context: In the spring of 2002, my Curriculum and Instruction class evaluated a piece of software. I chose Disney's Math Quest with Aladin because I have never used interactive math software. Doing the evaluation allowed me to look at the software with a critical eye and decide whether or not I would like to use it in my classroom.

Impact:  Doing this software review has prepared me for future software evaluations that will need to be done before I implement it into my curriculum. In this particular evaluation, I provided content description, noted strengths and weaknesses of the software, and suggested areas where it could be used in the curriculum. My review will also provide insight  for teachers who are interested in using this software.

Alignment: The software review of Disney's Math Quest with Aladin has given me insight on whether or not I would use the software in my class. Doing this type of research is extremely important since every bit of instructional time in the classroom needs to be used effectively (Tech Comp II B). I analyzed the software to see if it was age appropriate and content appropriate (Tech Comp II C). This review has given me insight on how I might use software programs in accordance with my lessons. I have taken note on the benefits of integrating this type of technology into my classroom (Tech Comp V B)
