Classroom Management Plan designed to begin to create a classroom management plan involving discipline, daily routines, and the physical layout of an elementary school classroom

Context
I created this management plan as a part of one of my Elementary Education Methods classes during my Block experience at ASU.  This management plan was created using Microsoft Word.  The management plan includes the design of a classroom layout. The physical layout of the classroom is set up in a way that promotes cooperative learning and equal access of classroom resources, including technological resources, for all students.  I observed the classroom environment, routines, and discipline situation of a 2nd/3rd grade class at Beech Mountain Elementary School, during my Block internship.  These observations were done in preparation for the completion of this management plan.

Impact
This Management plan served as a way to get myself thinking about how I hope to set up my classroom; the layout of the classroom, the daily routines, and the discipline program.  This has been very helpful in helping to prepare me for the decisions I will have to make when I have my own classroom. This classroom management plan could also be useful to current teachers, who may wish to examine alternate management plans.  The plan also involved my analysis of the classroom I am currently interning in. This analysis might be useful to teachers interested in altering their classroom management systems.

Alignment
This Classroom management plan is based on the notion of providing all students with equal opportunities to learn most efficiently. The physical layout of the classroom involves resource centers, where students would all have access to various types of instructional assistance.  This setup also promotes the collaboration of students as they utilize classroom resources (Tech. Competency 12.4).  A section of the classroom layout is designated “the technology area”.  In this area, there would be computer station(s) where students would have the opportunity to explore various software programs and practice computer skills.  The plan describes a sign up system that would ensure equal access to the “technology area” for all students (Tech. Competency 14.2).
