Artifact # 8 |
Name I gave careful thought about my Classroom Environment and designed a room map as a way to have the most productive learning. Context Investigating different aspects of the classroom as well as our personal regards to the classroom, were part of the curriculum goals during my Block semester. I designed my room map as an addition to the Classroom Environment assignment that I completed. This assignment was completed individually so that I could explore my attitude on classroom arrangement atmosphere. Impact My Classroom Management and room map will be the most benefitial to myself because I know now what I view as important characteristics of a classroom setting. It shows on my room map what I value and the involvement that I want present within my classroom. However, this artifact can also help other teachers because they can create a room map to expose possibilities for improvement that they might have overlooked on a regular basis. Alignment Since the room map was part of the Classroom Environment, I gave particular thought to how the arrangement of the room would provide the best learning environment for children. I want to have a classroom that encourages diverse learners by offering stations that meet different interests and abilities. One station would be the technology center where students could use the computer as a tool for learning. At each center I would have sign-in sheets that only allowed so many students per station. The students would have to visit the other stations before repeating a station. On my room map I layout how I would have my centers placed around the room. Not only does the room map and Classroom Environment demonstrate how I would create stations, but also my plan for managing them. I want every student to have the opportunity to use the computer, especially since some may not have access to computers at home. (Technology Standard II E) Furthermore, the stations provide more than equal opportunity for technology, but also the chance for social interaction, engaged learning and the evidence of self-motivation.
