Software Evaluation

Context:  In the fall of 2002, I completed a software evaluation for my Curriculum and Instruction class.  I selected Math Munchers Deluxe published by MECC because I felt students may benefit more from a mathematically based program for additional practice.  The software evaluation gave me experience in working with the criteria and questions that should be considered when thinking about implementing a particular software program into the classroom.

Impact:  The experience gained in completing the software evaluation will be helpful for future evaluations.  In my evaluation of Math Munchers Deluxe, I included content description, strengths and weaknesses of the software, as well as ways for the software to be incorporated into the classroom.

Alignment:  The software evaluation has given me insight on how, or if, I would use this particular software program in my classroom.  In addition, I now have the experience to do more such research in order to determine whether a program would be beneficial to my classroom (Tech Comp II B).  I am now also able to evaluate the appropriateness and content accuracy of the subject to determine if the software will be suitable for the grade level that I am teaching (Tech Comp II C).  In addition, I have noted the benefits of integrating software into my classroom (Tech Comp V B).
