Rationale: Telefolio
Competency:
10.1: "Use the Computer Skills Curriculum to identify what students should know and be able to do."
10.5: "The NC Computer Skills Assessment."
Context:
I developed
an online telefolio that displays the technological skills that I possess.
I did numerous technology based projects (artifacts) and then I wrote up
an explanation (rationale) that answered the following: What competencies
did the artifact meet? What I did in the artifact? How will this artifact
help me in the teaching field? How does this artifact align or correlate
with the technology competencies?
Then I put both the rationales and
artifacts online. There were several artifacts that I could not completely
display online due to the artifact itself. I took a picture of the artifact
and then displayed the picture online, if I it was not feasible to include
the actual artifact.
Impact:
Technology is extremely important
in today's world. As a teacher I will have to implement in my students
the technology skills that are essential to function in this technological
society. The telefolio has provided me with the knowledge and the activities
to properly teach the needed technological skills to my students.
Alignment:
The telefolio aligns with competencies
10.1 and 10.5.. The telefolio displays the technological skills and knowledge
that I have. These skills are displayed in alignment with the technology
standards of the ISTE National Education Technology Standards for Students,
The telefolio also allows me
to demonstrate any new technological skills that I have developed. I can
add new artifacts and rationales to my telefolio. This option shows how
quickly technology advances and demonstrates how I must advance with the
new technology in order to be an effective teacher.
