Context: This artifact is an example of an activity that gives students hands on experience with computers and other forms of technology, as well as, the opportunity to create their very own webpages. I created my webpage in Netscape Composer which serves as a tool that teaches students how to use computers and the internet as a means of demonstrating their knowledge in the classroom. In this project, students will provide a new use for an odd object, and demonstrate the use for the object. My webpage will serve as a model that the students will be able to use when creating their own invention, which will be posted and shared on the web. Impact: This project requires students to work in small groups, and collaborate ideas to come up with a new use for an old object. Students will be encouraged to use their imaginations and creativity while constructing their webpages. This activity allows students to excel in their computer skills, technology skills and writing skills. Alignment: Through this assignment students will become aware of the computer skills assessment through the use of technology in their classroom. Therefore this artifact aligns with Tech Competencies II E, III A,B,C, IV C, and VI E because it allows students to become familiar with this technology and how it can be used in the classroom setting. It will give students experience of using the computer and technology of the future. Alignment with INTASC Standards: This artifact aligns
with INTASC Standard II through allowing
students to complete activities such as this webpage and giving teachers
the opportunity to evaluate students’ performance through their creativity.
It also allows for the students to take pride and responsibility for their
work.
