Context:
Impact: The database entries helped me learn a great way to evaluate all the literature that my students will read before they are actually exposed to the books. Using this technology allows me as a teacher, to read what other colleagues thought about a piece of literature and how to use them as a resource to help me with literature in my own classroom. Alignment: This artifact proves that technology can be useful for the teacher and the learner. With the help of my colleagues, I can save time by looking for the reviews of the books I want my students to read, and choose apprpriate books for them. The database entries also give me ideas on lessons that follow the reading of these books. I will be able to spend my time more productively by inventing new and exciting ways to introduce these great books in my classroom and get my students excited about reading (Tech Competency V C). This artifact proves that using technology as a means of communication is very helpful in that it can save you a lot of time, and it can help you to provide you with many different ideas and creative activities ( Tech Competency V D). Alignment with INTASC Standards: The literature database
is a collection of resources that interning teachers, including myself,
have evaluated for curriculum content and provided instructional ideas
for (INTASC Standard 1). It is a resource
that enriches the teacher's knowledge about literature, therefore expanding
thier knowledge of the class (INTASC Standard
6) and since the database is added to continuously the teacher is able
to continually learn new books that other teachers have found helpful (INTASC
Standard 9).
