Portrait of a Learner
  • This was a semester long project that focused on one particular student who struggled in school.  In partnership with our classroom teachers, we selected a student to be our portrait student.  During the course of the semester we performed many assessments on our student.  We gathered mathh and spelling assessment data and examined reading and writing assessment measures e.g. WRI and IRI's.  We also administered a word study lesson and analyzed the results.  As a culmination of this project we were required to present our Block professors with a videotape of our portrait student.  In order to do this, a parental consent form was signed by the parent or guardian of the student (14.1) .  This video (12.2) was to show the type of learner the student was and how we assessed them throughout the semester.  Through this video (10.2) we watched how our portrait students' learning style affected them aswell as their fellow students.  We were also able to compare and contrast the various styles of learning within the class (13.1).
