Artifact Three:
Web Page
This webpage was
conducted in collaboration between Leigh Haley, Stacey Rhoney, Tasha Punch, and
myself. The webpage was a way that students could be engaged in technological
learning. Context: This web page was constructed for my graduate class, Computers in Educational Settings, taught by Dr. Bronack. This page was developed to allow elementary students to explore Judith Viorst and her children's book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. This web page is a fantastic way to integrate technology into my Language Arts classroom. My fourth grade special needs students have thoroughly enjoyed this type of instruction. Having the story read to them alleviates their anxiety and makes the task easier. The webpage was designed using the program Front Page. Collaborating during this class was a excellent way to talk about technological issues in the field of education. We discussed how using this type of instruction will help our teachers, students, and this ever changing field. Alignment: In completing this artifact the following Standards for the Master's Degree program were met. * Standard A: Instructional Expertise: The candidate demonstrates instructional expertise by applying the theoretical, philosophical, and research bases for educational practice in P-12 settings to improve student learning: - I designed this web page to use technology in my classroom that creates a learning environment that supports success. My students struggle with reading and this is a way that I modified their reading instruction. This type of instruction is also a way that I am able to check my student's comprehension. * Standard B: Knowledge of Learners: The candidate incorporates knowledge of the nature of the learner, learning processes, variations in learning abilities and learning styles, and strategies for evaluating learning into the planning, delivery, and evaluation of instruction. Teaching students with special needs is a challenge on a daily basis. This artifact allowed me to reflect on my students learning process and their learning abilities. Working with technology in a classroom creates an environment in which all of my students feel successful. |
