Artifact Nine:  Novel Study This novel study packet was created to increase a student's interest during the reading of a novel.  Throughout the reading of the novel the students use various activities to check their understanding of what they were reading, as well as provide the opportunity for the students to interact with the literature.

Context: This novel study was completed as part of the requirements for RE 5730 Reading and Writing Instruction for Intermediate and Advanced Learners.  After choosing a novel of my choice that was academically appropriate for a 3-5 class, I designed various activities that would be used before, during, and after the reading of the novel.  The novel study packet is a great way for teachers to pace their students during the reading of a novel.  The activities require the students to dig deeper into the understanding of the characters, the plot, etc.  The students are provided numerous opportunities to express their newly learned information they have studied and researched about in an interesting and inviting manner.
