Classroom Layout
This “floor plan” of a classroom shows how desks could be arranged in the class.

Context:
This document was created in a word processing document.

Impact:
This artifact will impact students by allowing for active learning and collaboration.  The desks are clustered together in groups of four to allow the students to work together and discuss the work when appropriate.  With the desks so close, the students can talk quietly with each other about the work, without disrupting other people in the class.

Alignment:
This class floor plan supports active collaboration and facilitates cooperative learning (Tech. Comp. 12.4).  It also creates a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and collaboration (INTASC #5).  By grouping the children in groups of four, it allows for collaboration by encouraging small group discussion and collaboration due to the closeness of the desks.  The layout also shows where stations will be in relation to the children, therefore showing how it facilitates active learning.
