Name:
Picture Story Web Page

Context:
This web page was created as a part of my Media and Learning course during my pre-service training at ASU.  It includes pictures and links to media resources.

Impact:
This lesson contains a group of pictures that students use as a sequencing activity.  They create their own story by putting the pictures in any order.  This lesson relates to goals for English Language Arts and Computer/Technology Skills, as detailed in the NC Standard Course of Study.  As a web page, these images are available to other teachers.

Alignment:
The web page includes a group of pictures that help teachers increase students’ knowledge in media literacy.  Links in this lesson include the NC Standard Course of Study, English Language Arts, and Computer Technology Skills (Tech. Comp. 10.1).  Teachers will be able to integrate computer skills with language arts by having them write out the story, copy and paste the pictures, etc. (Tech. Comp. 10.4).  In order to assess the students, the teacher can have them write out the steps required to copy and paste items in order to evaluate their understanding of computer skills (Tech. Comp. 10.5).  This web page also allows the teacher to use technology in the Language Arts discipline by providing experience for students to use word processing and Internet access (Tech. Comp. 11.1).  This activity allows students to come up with their own ideas while teaching logical sequencing (Tech. Comp. 11.4).  This activity allows the teacher to plan instruction based on the curriculum goals for English and Technology Skills (INTASC #7).  This activity can be accessed formally, by a test on the steps of copy and paste, and informally by the actual story (INTASC #8).
