Classroom Layout:  This is a map of how I would set up the classroom to facilitate better learning.

Context:
I created the layout in my class called Elementary School Curriculum and Instruction.  This map is a diagram of a classroom, which has different centers to facilitate learning of technology, group collaboration, and organization.

Impact:
As a teacher I will be able to use this map to set up my own classroom. Since it facilitates group discussion among students, they will benefit from this. Being a first- year teacher this will also be helpful, because I do not have a previous classroom to draw ideas from.

Alignment:
Since this map shows the physical setting of a classroom, and it allows students to work collaboratively it fulfills (Tech Comp 12.4)

I created this map of a classroom that would foster collaboration between students.  The physical environment of my classroom sends a non-verbal message to children that communication between students is important when learning information. The way that I have the classroom set up (students seated in groups) shows that I know verbal techniques, since I am requiring that students work in groups.  I also have shown that I know the techniques of media communication, since I have put the computers together to foster interaction (Standard #6).

As a soon to be teacher, I have learned that students need to talk with others about their ideas, to make them stick in their head. If students discuss things with each other, they will be able to understand their own ideas more clearly. This physical environment in my classroom will have desks set up in groups, with 4 desks to a group. The desks will be facing each other so students will also be facing each other, which will foster discussion. By creating this physical environment, I have ensured that my students will have a place that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation (Standard # 5).
