Software Evaluation: An evaluation on a Phonics Computer Game.

Context
I did this evaluation during my Elementary School Curriculum and Instruction class during my block experience.  I played and experienced a computer program and than evaluated it’s quality and potential for usage in the classroom.

Impact
This evaluation will serve me when I become a teacher in the future because I can remember playing the game without actually playing it again.  I will use this software in my classroom if I teach kindergarten or first grade because it would be very helpful to children learning phonics.  It would be a good supplement to instruction as well as a good activity for students who need extra practice with phonics.  Software review will be very important for the future with all of the new programs that have and will be coming out.  If there was a place where you could find out about a program without actually having to buy it, a lot of time and money could be saved.

Alignment
This artifact shows that I have located and evaluated a valuable computer resource because I have located a software program and created a document showing its positive and negative points (Tech. Comp. 10.6).  Since this is a phonics/reading program, it is a tool that specifically meets the needs of extra practice and entertainment with the subject of reading (Tech. Comp. 11.4).  For those students who may have a disability where they need time alone and cannot concentrate with classroom distractions, I could let these students check out the program if they have a computer at home.  Or, they can use the program during spare class time.  This would be using technology to support students with special needs (Tech. Comp. 13.2).  Since this software has easier concepts as well as more difficult concepts with phonics, students on all different levels could use it to enhance his/her reading experience (Tech. Comp. 13.1).
