Artifact 8
www.babelfish.com- This is a useful web site that translates many languages in to English, and vice versa.

Context
During my pre-service training at ASU, I came across information about ESL, or English as a Second Language.  I looked at this web page and found that it could be a very useful resource in the classroom.

Impact
When I am teaching, there is a very good chance that I might have a student in my class that does not speak English as their first language.  I will be able to use this web page as a tool for communication with that student as well as a way of presenting important information.

Alignment
This artifact shows how I can use technology to support the needs of children for who English is a second language, because the children are able to have some of their needs met through the use of the internet (Tech Comp 13.3).
Having this resource available leads me to reflect on many ways that I could teach ESL students in my classroom.  I could use this web site to communicate with parents who speak a different language (by translating a parent letter/permission slip).  I could also translate directions of games, work, etc.  Since I reflected that I did not know a lot about ESL students, I looked for a way to grow professionally and to figure out how to solve this problem. (INTASC #9).
