AltaVista Translation: a resource that can be used by teachers to translate english words and phrases into any other language.

Context
I went to this web site in the fall of 2001 while at Appalachian State University after seeing a presentation on ESL.  After seeing this presentation, I wanted to learn more about resources available to teachers who have students whose first language is not english.

Impact
This resource will be very important to me as a teacher because I can use it when communicating with students whose first language is not English as well as with their parents who may not be able to speak English.  This resources can be used when creating a newsletter or other letters created to communicate with parents because the letter can be translated into another language in order to be read by parents who may not speak English.

Alignment
This is a wonderful resource that will provide me help in the further.  As a teacher and as a lifelong learner, this product helped me to see the resources that are available when I need to communicate with people who may not be fluent in the English language.  This product and resource also helps to affirm diversity in my classroom because it provides an opportunity to communicate with people who are from different ethnic backgrounds (Technology Competency 6C).  The technology that I used while creating this product also helps to make sure that I am communicating with all parents as well as including all students into the community of learners that I hope to establish in my future classroom.
