This Newsletter distributed to kindergarten, first grade and second grade student’s parents, was created to inform parents and the community of upcoming events in those grade levels.  It includes a list of events planned for Dr. Seuss Day, 2002, and information regarding a field trip that was still in planning stages.

Context
I created this K-2 Newsletter during my student teaching experience under the supervision of Dr. Pam Schram and Mrs. Carla Greene.  I used a template in Microsoft Publisher to create the newsletter and used Internet Explorer to find the Dr. Seuss clip art included in the publication.

Impact
I sent a copy to each of the student’s parents at Bethel Elementary School.  The processes of creating a newsletter of this nature will be extremely useful for me and my professional career as a teacher.  I can send home newsletters that I create, or the students can create to aide in fostering strong parent/teacher and parent/student relationships.

Alignment
An informative newsletter like this one will certainly help in communication throughout the school with my colleagues, peers and outside of the school with members of the community, including parents and guardians of my students (Goal VD).
