This Literature
Database is a database published on the internet in which students
read books, respond to them, summarize, and rate them. It is a way
to organize literature for certain subject areas, reading levels, and by
who wrote the entry into the database. I have entries in this particular
Children’s Literate Database. By clicking on search database from
the link above, one is able to type in my first and last name and find
my entries.
Context
I made my entries into this Literature
Database during the Fall of 2001. The database here is updated daily,
when people add their thoughts on particular books. There are over
one thousand entries in this database from students at Appalachian State
University, and twenty of them are my work.
Impact
This type of organization system holds
great wealth. Not only can I access the database when I graduate
from Appalachian State University, other teachers can access it as well.
Teachers and parents can discover different opinions about books to decide
if the work is appropriate for their child. Also, teachers can use
the database to choose books to read with their classes on all levels.
It can be searched in so many different ways, that a teacher is bound to
find many books that suit their needs.
Alignment
With respect to the National Education
Technology Standards for Teachers, a Literature Database such as this can
be an efficient way for a teacher to increase productivity in their classroom
and in planning through the use of technology resources (Goal
VC). Finding the database should not be a problem and in the
years to come, I will know how to access it for extensive use with my planning
of lessons.
