Textbook Analysis

This analysis is comparing two social studies text books. It includes the strengths and weaknesses of both.

Context:

A partner and I checked out two text books from the library which had been approved in North Carolina and compared them. In the Analysis we listed the pros and cons of each.

Impact:

Every teacher needs to be able to analyze textbooks. By doing this project I was made aware of the different types of textbooks available. It is very important for teachers to be able to perform a text book analysis. By being able to perform this type of analysis I am confident that I will make the right choices to benefit my students.

Alignment:

This evaluation allowed me to analyze two Social Studies text books and determine which would be the most appropriate for teaching. The evaluation had to show whether or not the text books followed the North Carolina Standard Course of study. Through this evaluation I was able to make a decision and a conclusion on which text book I would prefer to use in my own classroom. (Technology Standard II C)
