Modern Invention Web Page

Context:   The Modern Invention web page project was created in a media and technology course during my block classes at Appalachian State University.  The web page has a student page where the students receive instructions on how to start the project.  The students have to write an article about an invention they have created out of random objects.  They also have to take digital photographs of their invention being used.  Finally, the students create a web page to showcase their work.  On my web lesson there is an example page where the students can go to fully understand the assignment.  There is also a teacher page where the teacher can go to get helpful hints to teach the lesson.

Impact:  The Modern Invention Web lesson is great because it allows students to become creative inventors.  They will have fun while writing imaginatively and learning how to use technology.

Alignment:   The Modern Invention project is a great way to develop students higher thinking skills and creativity using technology. (INTASC # 4)
(Tech. III-C)
The project allows the students to be creative and become inventors.  They also write about their invention and then use technology (web page) to showcase their work.  Their web page is a product of creativity where the teacher the teacher can determine how well the student understands the use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.
(Tech IV-C)  On the student page, on my web page, there are directions on how to start creating a web page.  There are also instructions on how to cite a copyright. (Tech VI-A)  While doing this project it would be a great time to go over copyright issues.
Each student needs their own computer in order to carry out this project.  Each child would be ensured equal access to technology resources to create the Modern Invention Web Page. (Tech. VI-E)
