My web page shows the integration of media and literacy for use in an elementary classroom. The web page contains a lesson plan teaching the components and importance of a newspaper, and guidelines on how to produce a newspaper. This web page production is in relationship with the Beech/Bethel partnership and Appalachian State University students. The lesson is intended for second and third grade students, but could easily be any grade level appropriate. The media/ literacy web page contains many resources and guidelines that the teacher and students will be able to access to receive more information on newspapers and related topics (10.3). There is step by step information located on the web page for teachers to follow as they prepare for the lesson. Different information includes materials, goals before and after the lesson, various newspapers, the set-up of the classroom (12.4), and directions on how to produce a newspaper. This activity meets the goals of the NC computer skills curriculum in several ways (10.4). Students will learn how to use the web page and to retrieve information and resources from the internet (12.1). There are links to the different newspapers used in the lesson located on the web (11.4). This lesson with the use of the web page should be enjoyable for all ages, and allow everyone to use their creativity in producing their very own newspaper (12.5). |
