Inquiry Project

The Inquiry Project was divided into categories among groups within Block 436.  Examples of the categories were:  Parental Involvement, Classroom Management, and finally my category- Diverse Learners.  Because the topic of Diverse Learners was so broad, my group split the category into two parts:  Race and Religion.  Our objective was to teach how to incorporate diversity into the classroom.  We focused on equality in the classroom, language differences, and stereotyping.
The Inquiry Project group in which I was involved demonstrated Advanced Technology Competencies into our assignment.  We created and presented a resource packet for teachers to each Block student.  This resource packet included many references to helpful books, videos, and web sites which will be beneficial during student teaching and in our future careers as teachers.  By citing references within a distributed packet, all credit was given to appropriate publishers, websites, and organizations (14.3).  The types of books and internet sites mentioned in the packet ranged from topics such as media and technology for ESL students, to culture differences (holidays, dress, food) (13.3).  Also in the packet were articles compiled from the national  internet resource, ERIC (13.4).
The Diverse Learners group presented clips from videos dealing with diversity (10.2).  Role play and a quiz game were a part of this project as well.
