For this Block assignment, we were to work in pairs and analyze two separate Social Studies textbooks for a particular grade. My partner and I analyzed two second grade textbooks dealing with neighborhoods. We evaluated the textbooks according to content, and relativity to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (10.6). The two books were compared and contrasted in order to determine which would be the most beneficial to second graders in North Carolina. We located the two textbooks to be analyzed from the Instructional Materials Center (IMC) in the Belk Library at Appalachian State University.
