As a
part of the Literature assignments, Block students entered into a database
on the internet, five of the twenty-four children’s books read over the
duration of the Fall, 1999 semester.
The
books read were divided into six categories: picture, realistic fiction,
traditional fiction, historical fiction, science fiction/fantasy, and biography/informational.
There were three books for each genre- two primary and one upper elementary.
On the database, we reported
author, illustrator, publisher, location, date, age level, genre, summary,
and response. We also gave instructional ideas for each book (12.3).
