    Social Studies Lesson Plan

For a group project in Social Studies, I helped to develop a third grade lesson plan for the book The Courage of Sarah Noble. This lesson required the students to read the book. Once they had read the book, the students would then write their own story about living during this time period. The students could choose to be one of the Indian children or Sarah. Once the students had written their story, they then typed their story using a word processor.
By using this lesson plan in my classroom, I would be able to integrate many different subject areas into one lesson. There are many subjects that are integrated into this lesson for example reading, writing, and computer skills.
The Social Studies Lesson Plan meets many of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study requirements including Language Arts Skills and Computer/Technology Skills. This lesson plan meets computer skills objectives 1.3 and 3.1 (10.1)(10.4). As part of this lesson plan, the students will type, save and print their story using a computer(10.5). This lesson is designed to provide learning experiences in which the students use technology for word processing documents(11.1).
