Context:
In order to fulfill the requirements of my educational experiences at Appalachian State University, I had to conduct a study on a Kindergarten student, we shall call Lucy, during my internship. In this study I performed assessments and evaluations in order to see how she learned as a student. I video taped her in her learning environment capturing an average day.
Impact:
The Portrait of a Learner project proved
to develop my learning in becoming an Elementary teacher. I was able to
look at assessments completely with one child so that I will have the ability
to judge leaning patterns and styles as a new teacher. With the spelling
assessments, ERSI's, phonemic awareness, and daily work, the proper instructional
level can be determined.
Alignment:
I used the video camera to collect information
on my portrait student. As a teacher, you can monitor your children throughout
the year. This could be used as a management tool, or as an assessment
technique (12.2).
