Developmental Study Media Survey:  This artifact is a web page that shows survey results of the effects of packaging on 3rd to 4th grade students.

Context
Myself and other block students in the 3-5 grade band at Bethel, Beach Mountain, and Mabel Elementary Schools completed a survey of the effects of packaging on 3rd and 4th graders.  The Web site was created on Netscape Composer during my elementary education block at ASU.

Impact
Our goal was to learn more about our students and to see how the results compare to developmental characteristics of children their age.  The web page is linked to the Developmental Characteristics pages of previous block students.  In the future I will be able to access this information to review my knowledge of the Developmental Stages of my students.

Alignment
By creating a link to the Developmental Characteristics, and completing a survey of the classroom, I show that I can use a variety of ways to collect information on student learning (Tech. Competency 12.2).  When creating this web page we downloaded and cited many pictures off the Internet showing that I am aware of legal issues relating to technology (Tech. Competency 14.3).  In the future I will use this web page as an example when teaching students the guidelines and procedures related to copyright laws (Tech. Competency 14.1).  By creating and completing the survey I have shown that I understand how to use different tools and techniques for gathering information.  With this information I can draw conclusions in order to create genuine learning experiences by knowing more about the developmental characteristics of my students (INTASC #1).  By creating a link to the Developmental web page and reflecting on survey results I prove that I understand how the children learn and development.  By knowing the students development I can create positive learning experiences (INTASC #2).
