Story Pictures Internet Activity: a web site with instructions for both teachers and students that meets the Computer and Language Arts Curriculum.  The site gives instruction on completing word processing document with a sequencing activity using pictures off the Internet.

Context
This web site was created using Netscape Composer as an assignment for my Media Technology class during my block at ASU.  This web page gives instructions for both teacher and students in completing a story pictures sequencing activity using a word processing document.  Students will access the web page on the Internet and put pictures in the word processing document and sequencing to text to tell a story.  This assignment was created during my elementary education block at ASU.

Impact
This Web page includes instructions for students, as well as teachers, on how to complete a sequencing activity using both writing and technology.  As a teacher this activity will enrich the educational experiences with a hands on activity that incorporates technology, writing, and sequencing. This activity gives the students an opportunity to work in groups, access information off the Internet, and use a word processing document to create a final product.

Alignment
The Web page gives students guidelines and instructions for students to complete a creative writing using the Internet to create a word processed document.  On the teacher’s page of the document I created list of the NCSCS Literature and Technology competencies the activity meets and a link to the web site showing that I can access the Computer Skills Curriculum and Identify what students should be able to do (Tech. Competency 10.1).  By completing this activity students will fulfill the technology competencies in the Computer Skills Curriculum that are listed on the web page. (Tech Competency 10.4, INTASC #7).  Specific skills that students will be asked to use like finding the page on the Internet, downloading the pictures, creating a word processed document, saving the document, and printing a copy to turn in will prepare the student for the Computer Skills Assessment (Tech. Competency 10.5).  By creating a teacher’s page putting this activity on the Internet I made it easy for any teacher, or student, to access the information.  The simple step-by-step directions and guidelines for teachers makes this artifact and its contents comprehensible (Tech. Competency 11.2).  By creating a link to the 3rd Grade Literature Competency that the activity fulfills I show that I can create teaching strategies that suit the needs of Literature (Tech. Competency 11.4).  The writing process that the students do to complete the activity has little if any restrictions on their creative freedom.  The students can write about whatever they think their organization of the pictures means. This activity gives students the opportunity of creative writing and creating a word processed document while giving an oppretunity for self expression as well as technology (Tech Competency 12.7).
