List of Television
Resources
Context
In class, we viewed a segment of a Channel One broadcast. The
topic of the broadcast was the conflict of a middle-eastern country.
The broadcast was interesting and educational. After watching the
segment, I compiled a list of educational cable channels, in-school resources,
and public agencies that could play a role in the educational process.
Next, I visited the websites of each of these resources to find some background
information. I compiled a list of television resources that can be
used in the classroom, as well as a brief description of each resource.
Impact
The list television resources that I compiled will be very helpful
to me when I am in the classroom. Because children are so accustomed
to watching television, it can be a familiar tool in education. Assuming
that these resources are still valid while I serve as an educator, I fully
intend to utilize them in my classroom. These resources offer an
exciting, engaging way to teach students about a variety of subjects.
Alignment
The list of television resources aligns with competency
10.2. As a future educator, I know that it will be a challenge
to keep my students excited about learning. The best way to do this,
I think, is to utilize a variety of classroom resources. By using
television in the classroom, students can benefit in a number of ways.
The list that I compiled is a tool that I can continue to use and build
upon throughout my career as a North Carolina elementary grades educator.
Alignment with Intasc Standards
This artifact also meets INTASC Standard
5. Through the use of these resources, I will be able to facilitate
student interactions and engagement in learning through discussions of
the media viewed. I now feel competent in this area and can incorporate
television resources into my classroom and lesson plans.
