Artifact # 10 |
Telefolio
Context: I created a web based portfolio, or telefolio, in an Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching course, instructed by Jeff Goodman at Appalachian State University. Impact: The telefolio contains work I completed during my career as an Elementary Education major at Appalachian State University, primarily work produced during my final semester of school. The telefolio displays such projects and assignments as a modern fashion and invention activity, a media literacy ethnography, a literature circle unit, a culture kit, a textbook evaluation, and a software review. Each artifact in the telefolio is aligned with either the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers and/or the INTASC Standards. In addition, my teaching philosophy, resume, and reference information is included in the telefolio. The telefolio is a useful tool since it displays my work in a readily accessible way, and it is also beneficial to potential employers, who may want to view and evaluate my work, abilities, and/or preparedness as a prospective teacher. Alignment: The telefolio itself serves
as an artifact that meets goals IA and IB of the National Educational Technology
Standards for Teachers. Through construction of the telefolio, I
demonstrated mastery of basic technology skills, such as the proficient
use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and the access and evaluation
of multiple Internet resources. (IA). In addition, the telefolio
illustrates that I, too, have mastered emerging technologies, such as the
use of Netscape Composer in web page construction, the use of Macintosh’s
imovie in video production, and the use of digital cameras and scanners
to capture and insert photographs into projects and productions (IB).
