Developmental Study- a study of the development of students to better understand the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development.

Context
The developmental study was created as part of my undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University.

Impact
The developmental study project serves as a useful tool in discovering how students are developing.  It gives an overview of the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual development of students in third grade.  The project aids in finding ways to deal with children at this age, what changes they might be going through at this time period in their lives, and what level of intellectual development should be taking place.

Alignment
During the research on this project, various Internet sites served as a useful tool in seeking information on child development.  There are many sites on the different types of development with examples and case studies on most.  The information was collected and used in the project to help parents and teachers learn the different stages of development of children (Tech Comp 12.3).  This information was collected to provide a reference to assist in student learning).  The project helps teachers understand student development and helps them plan accordingly by coming to a better understanding of the child’s development.  Based on the knowledge acquired through this reference, teachers and parents can provide opportunities for children to learn in a more effective manner  (INTASC 2).  It also helps the teachers, parents, or any other community members be able to effectively communicate through knowledge of child development (INTASC 10).
