Permission slip stating permission of parents to videotape, audiotape, or take pictures of their children to be used in a professional, confidential manner.

Context
The permission slips were created and administered during my undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University.

Impact
It is legally necessary to get permission from the child’s parent/guardian to tape or photograph their child to be used in any form of media exposure.  Once permission has been granted, the document can then be filed to be used as a reference if necessary.

Alignment
Creating permission slips for activities that involve media or other activities that might allow for child protection by law demonstrates compliance with the law and will ensure the rights of every child (Tech Comp 14.1).  Permission slips for videotaping or photographing children demonstrates the ethical, legal and social issues regarding the rights of the child.  By getting permission, the guardian of the child is aware of the actions being taken with their child, and allows the photographer to construct the project in a way conducive to the permission slip guidelines (Tech Comp 14.3).
