Classroom Management Project, an exploration into the many varieties of classroom management.

Context
This project was completed during my internship at Appalachian State University as a requirement of the course “Curriculum and Instruction in the Elementary School.”

Impact
To complete this project, I had to spend many hours observing in a fourth and fifth grade classroom at Beech Mountain Elementary School. While I was there, I assessed what methods of classroom management succeeded or failed. By seeing many different varieties of classroom management, I am better able to think of the ways in which I will manage my own classroom.

Alignment
As part of the assignment, based on what I had learned about classroom management, I was required to sketch an example of my future classroom's layout (Tech 12.4).
Part of teaching is being able to communicate effectively - both verbally and nonverbally. As part of my classroom management assignment, I was required to comment on how the teacher that I observed communicated with the class. After observing in the classroom, I was able to reflect on the ways that I will communicate with my students on a daily basis – including directions, routines and discipline (INTASC #6)
