Artifact 4

Power Point Presentation to show the set up of a classroom throughout the year.  It can be used to inform parents and colleagues of what is being learned in my classroom.

Rationale for the Artifact: Power Point Presentation

Competency 11.2: “Use media and technology to present the subject so that it is comprehensible to others.”

Competency 11.4: “Use technology to facilitate teaching strategies specific to the discipline.”

Competency 12.6: "Resources available including satellite, cable, wireless, and ITFS (Instructional Television Fixed Service)."

Context:
I created this artifact during the summer of 2001 in Classroom Use of the Microcomputer in grades K-12.  This artifact was designed to help teachers learn how to use technology in appropriate way so that it is an effective tool for learning in the classroom.  We used  Microsoft Power Point in a group to create a presentation for the class.  As a group we decided that we would be sixth grade teachers, so we used Power Point to make a presentation that would introduce parents to what the students would be learning in the sixth grade.  In our presentations we listed the goals for several subjects that we could be teaching.  To enhance the slide show we added animation and sound to make them exciting.  Once we were finished we had to present this material to the class in an orderly and professional manner.  While presenting we used a wireless touch screen to change the slides and move the volume up and down.  This was I very fun and exciting way to present information.

Impact:
As a future teacher, I will be giving many presentations to faculty, parents, and students and this will be a useful technique to know in presenting my materials.  It will come in handy because I could also use this at a PTO meeting to inform parents of the curriculum for that year.

Alignment:
This artifact aligns with competency 11.2 - because I used a Sony projector, speakers, and computer to present my material.  I also used a digital camera to import a picture into the presentation.

This artifact aligns with competency 11.4 - because in a cooperative learning group we gathered a presentation of the sixth grade and presented it to the class using Microsoft Power Point.

This artifact aligns with competency 12.6 - I used a wireless touch screen to activate the presentation in order to present it to the class.
