Children's Literature Database:  This is an online database that contains various types of children's literature.

Context
While in my Language Arts methods course in the Fall of 2001, I added several entries to this database, five of which are added to the permanent database.

Impact
By accessing this resource, I have information about children's literature that I can evaluate and decide on some literature that I would like to use in my classroom instruction.

Alignment
This database has various categories that I can use to search for books, such as by the book title, author, or subject area that the book applies.  When using this database, I have to constantly evaluate the information that is presented.  I have to use my professional judgement to decide if the information is accurate and worth my time to use this technology to find books that would support my students' learning.  One category of information within each database entry is ideas using the literature for instructional practices.  I have to carefully evaluate these instructional ideas to see if they would be worth using within my classroom (Technology Standard V B).
By using the online database, I do not have to spend hours trying to find literature on a specific subject; I can find the information I am looking for in a matter of minutes. The suggested instructional ideas could also increase my productivity by giving me lots of ideas about how to use the literature.  This helps me be more productive as a professsional (Technology Standard V C).
