Five Educational Software Evaluation

I evaluated five pieces of software in a computer educational class for multimedia day (10.6).  Our focus was to select five out of eight pieces that appealed to us as a small group.  We were to determine appropriate age groups, strengthens and weaknesses, topic of study or integration,  and objectives.  It is necessary for a teacher to observe, select, and evaluate pieces of software, literature, visual representation, etc. to see the uses  and possible learning tactics.  Teachers need to know many types of resources that are tools in the classroom.  Educational software programs are a never-ending trend for school use.
Even though I just evaluated certain kinds of software,  they make me aware that technology is not just for fun.  Technology can be used to teach students, assess students, allow them to relearn material, etc.  There are  infinite ways to use computer software programs as a tool in the classroom.  One of my focuses for the assignment was to decide possible content areas for study (11.3).  This helps the teacher plan for future activities using the software if a student is having trouble or to enhance the learning.  Also putting the information gathered onto database allows easy access for the teacher to review quickly without having to load the program.
