Media Literacy Lesson Plan
                  Grade 3-6

In our Media Literacy Web Page, Kerry and I  have included computer skills curriculum strands appropriate for the sixth grade (10.1).  The students will be using computers to create letters for the fifth grade class.  It is important ot know what the students should know and what they should be taught while in a certain grade.
Our media web page consist of links relating to our project (10.3).  These can be used to expand the activity, from general knowledge to allowing  students to add to the list, and to provide more resources or advertisements to use throughout the lesson.
At the end of the lesson, the students will display their final billboard production around the school (12.4).  This shows the students'  understanding of the ideas and purposes of billboards and advertising in general.
Our Media Literacy Web Page is a lesson plan that we will teach during our internship at Bethel Elementary School.  We will work collaboratively with the fifth grade class to produce the billboards.  The sixth grade class will review and analyze different types of advertisements to answer questions about the purpose (12.7).  We will start them off with magazine and paper advertising then move into billboards, since that is our focus.  Through steps of approval with the fifth graders and Mr. Yates, the principal,  the students will use media to strengthen their understanding of advertisements and give them the opportunity to create their own.
