Technology
Center
During my internship at Bethel Elementary School, I helped the supervising teacher, along with the other intern , to teach the students about fractions. Her goal was to use the software program as a focus for upcoming lessons in math. She checked out the technology center in Bethel which allows enough room to work and plan (13.4). I have provided two pictures, one of her classroom and the other in the technology center. These two images show how a teacher can use what computers she has for the students in the classroom and a center which displays a variety of activities that could take place. I have learned through observing students at Bethel that a sign-up sheet is an essential responsibility to ensure all students have access to the computers (14.2). Before school, after lunch, and during free time the same students use the two computers in the classroom. I know there are some students who do not have the opportunity to explore a computer at home. Not much time is given in the classroom to play on the internet or with educational games, but time should be an option for those who have a desire to use the computer. I have also provided role playing activity dealing with copying software that are not the users and consequence that any teacher could adapt to his or her classroom or lab (14.3). Even though the students are young, they should be aware of what people do and how to stop such crime. Included are ideas that they have been learning since kindergarten, respect of other people's property. Technology, especially computers, are the future and if students want to continue using them, rules must be followed. Making students aware and knowledgeable may decrease illegal work from them or someone else. |
