500
Nations
Software
Evaluation
This
unit plan was produced around the software program called "500 Nations."
The program is about the nations of Indians that live in North America.
I put together several lessons dealing with four different Indian nations.
The students will incorporate their research and knowledge with the software
to present to other students. The students will have access to their
particular Indian nation with the software. They will be asked to
observe, locate, collect data, and evaluate what they have learned from
the sections of their nation.
After the students have collected some group research, brainstormed an
art project pertaining to their action, and listen in on lectures, they
will be introduced to their section in "500 Nations" software program (11.1).
This will enlighten what they are learning, reinforce their projects, and
fill in where gaps or questions have formed.
When students are learning new information it is important for the teacher
to provide several media for delivering the lessons (12.5).
In this unit plan, students are writing, collaborating information with
book, journals, software, lectures, and utilizing a technological program
to bring all their information together. The program will provide
a frame work for the students to use.
Since I wrote this unit plan in case something happened and I could not
be there to teach it, the plan itself is very detailed. I will have
already gone over the rules of the computers and the general rules several
times, but I assumed that the students will forget them (14.1).
I provide a outline of "The Ten Commandments for Computer Ethics" to show
the students how important it is to follow rules. Some of the commandments
do not apply with this particular lesson, but as a class we broke them
down into a few important rules. They also what will happen if they
break the rules, because these rules are universal.
