Video Project: A video portrayal of a fictional nature show and sports broadcast based on the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowlings.

Context:
This video was created for my Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching class during my block experience at ASU.  Using a digital camera and iMovie software, I worked with two of my peers to create and edit the video.

Impact:
I will be able to use this video in my classroom as a model.  This project can be modified to fit any book or topic.

Alignment:
By using this video as a model, I can show my students how effective a video presentation of their ideas can be.  Along with showing the video, I will include all the steps involved in recording it.  The students will gain an understanding of how the camera works as well as how much planning must go into the project before they can even begin to use the camera.  By using a video camera to record their actions, my students will have the opportunity to express themselves using technology while also gaining useful skills in camera operation and video editing (Tech. Comp. 12.7).  Using a video as a final project also supports the NC Curriculum by encouraging computer skills through the use of the iMovie software as well as any word-processed documents that might accompany the presentation of the video (Tech. Comp. 10.2).
