Artifact #4:
Classroom Management Plan: a plan for what my future classroom will be like, including the arrangement of the room and daily routines.

Context:
This plan was constructed for my Curriculum and Instruction class using Microsoft Word during my block experience at ASU.

Impact:
Developing a plan for my classroom environment gave me the opportunity to consider how the physical environment as well as daily routines will be set up.  Although my ideas may change over time and with experience, I am confident that what I have devised will work, given enough physical space and equipment.  In deciding how to set up my classroom, I observed the 2nd/3rd grade class at Beech Mountain Elementary School where I am currently performing my internship.  The ideas that I have, as well as the policies in place for the classroom at Beech Mountain can be used as a resource for other teachers who may be contemplating a change in their own classroom.

Alignment:
The purpose of developing a Classroom Management Plan is to assure that all students have equal access to a positive and safe learning environment.  Daily procedures are established to encourage a classroom that runs smoothly and where students can take pride in their classroom.  My classroom layout includes a gathering center where students may work in groups in a comfortable setting (Tech Comp. 12.4).  The room will be set up to allow for easy movement around the furniture, while at the same time creating a warm and inviting environment.  In my classroom, I will foster a learning environment where children can learn from each other as well as independently.  I hope to create an environment where my words and actions express an interest in all of my students and my enthusiasm for teaching.  The setup of the classroom would encourage students to learn by providing ample resources and opportunities (INTASC #6)
